INTRODUCTION

Sabat Exports Private Limited based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was co-founded by two women entrepreneurs- Dr. Anita Sabat and Amrita Sabat. It was incorporated on May 11, 2015, and by the divine grace and blessings of Lord Jagannath, commenced its business operations on the auspicious Nabakalebara Rath Yatra – Naba Jaubana Darshana day on 17 July, 2015.

Our company, Sabat Exports Private Limited, and our premium brand, Utkalamrita, deal with – Handlooms, Textiles and readymade garments, Silver Filigree Jewellery, Silver Decoratives, Brass Handicrafts, Pattachitra and Saura Art Paintings, Wooden Works, Terracota Crafts, Dhokra Items, Tribal jewellery, Eco-friendly (Paper-mache, Marble Dust, Betelnut, Pipili Handicrafts, Odisha Jagannath Decor) items.

We are making sincere efforts to promote the best quality and highly innovative handicrafts, handlooms, spices and jewellery from the land of ‘exquisite arts’ or ‘Utkarsha Kala’ i.e. Utkala or Odisha.

  2. To help revive and support traditional designs of arts and crafts so that they survive and thrive.

  5. To extend branding and marketing support to micro and small units of Odisha, helping in promotion to expand their markets globally.
  6. To popularise, share information and help Odisha earn recognition for her exquisite arts and crafts and raise Odisha’s stature in India and the world.
  7. To generate employment and a good source of income for talented Odisha artists.

Sabat Exports is committed to support local art and artisans by generating employment, reviving and creating traditional and contemporary designs to enhance demand and supplement good profits for the artists. It is our business to ensure that our company and all involved with us have great business and meaningfully contribute to our state’s and nation’s reputation and progress.

The two women Directors of Sabat Exports,  Dr. Anita Sabat and Amrita Sabat, are sisters belonging to a reputed business-family that has been in the Turmeric business for over 80 years. They are the grand-daughters of Shri Abhimanyu Sabat, also known as the ‘King of Turmeric’. They are the great-great-grand-daughters of Late Shri Kalu Sabat, who initially started the trade in Berhampur in Ganjam, Odisha in 1930s coming from Saru, a village 15 km away from Berhampur. Keeping the flag high of Sabat family’s business ethics and principles, these daughters strive to further the family’s name and fame through Sabat Exports Pvt. Ltd. (wholly owned by Sabat Investment and Trading Pvt. Ltd. (SITL), a company promoted by Shri Abhimanyu Sabat in 1983).

Managing Director’s Profile

Our Managing Director, Amrita Sabat, has done her Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering from College of Engineering & Technology (CET) and MBA from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). A zonal and Odisha state topper in the Std-X Board Examination, Amrita was invited by the President to witness the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi in 2002. She was one of the national winners of the Pepsi Change the Game contest and witnessed all of India’s World Cup 2011 matches live in the stadiums. Amrita has worked with Wipro in Hyderabad and Chennai, and Fidelity Investments in Bangalore.

Director’s Profile

Our Director, Dr. Anita Sabat, happens to be Managing Director of SITL, the Holding Company. She has done her BSc. (Chemistry Hons.) from B.J.B. College, Bhubaneswar; MBA from The Times School of Marketing, New Delhi; MA and MPhil (Public Administration) from Utkal University; & has become Odisha’s first Doctorate in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Dr. Anita has worked in Mumbai and Kolkata with software companies like Tata Interactive Systems (TIS), RS Software and Lexmark. She is one of the top Bloggers of India and gets invited to blogging events.

For FY 15-16, we have taken part in five international exhibitions, one major international event held at Ahmedabad in Feb 2016- World Spices Congress, and one local fair on Women’s Day 2016. In FY 16-17, we took part in four major international exhibitions and several domestic fairs (mostly at Mumbai, Delhi etc). FY 17-18 marked our debut at Kunming International Trade Fair(the biggest consumer fair in the world) and two more fairs at Singapore along with succesful domestic exhibition at Goa. We also have been registered online sellers with Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon and have generated domestic sales as well.  Our customers actively connect through social media (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Twitter) and we expect this website to reach our worldwide customers and spread the cheer of Odisha Handlooms and Crafts everywhere!
